From Profit to Pitfall: Whale’s $WIF Short Ends in a $243K Loss
Fresh off a successful short on BTC, the trader behind wallet 0x51d99a4022a55cad07a3c958f0600d8bb0b39921 decided to keep the momentum going—this time targeting $WIF on Hyperliquid.
He opened a 10x short position, initially worth $4.08 million at $1.15 per token, backed by a $368,478 deposit. As confidence grew, so did the bet—eventually scaling up to 4.59 million #WIF , worth $5.14 million, with an average entry of $1.14.
For a moment, it seemed like another win. The position showed a $112K unrealized profit. But greed—or timing—got the better of him.
Just 10 minutes later, the position was wiped. The whale closed the trade in a rush, dragging the price back up and flipping gains into a $243,000 loss, including fees.
A harsh reminder: in the world of leverage, profits can vanish in the blink of an eye.
