Metaplanet's Aggressive Bitcoin Acquisition Strategy

Metaplanet, a Japanese investment firm, recently purchased 1,241 Bitcoin (BTC) for approximately $126 million, raising its total holdings to 6,796 BTC, surpassing El Salvador's reserves of 6,174 BTC. This acquisition is the company's most significant since April 2024, with a purchase price averaging over $102,119 per Bitcoin. Metaplanet aims to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025, emulating MicroStrategy's accumulation strategy. The firm reports a 38% BTC yield for the second quarter, reflecting its commitment to increasing shareholder value through Bitcoin. Currently, Metaplanet is the largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder in Asia and ranks 11th globally.
