Tragedy between tokens and cryptos!
A young Dominican man is murdered in New Jersey after resisting a robbery — he was carrying a cold wallet with more than 15 BTC.
NEW JERSEY – What seemed like an ordinary night of dominoes with friends ended in a brutal tragedy: a young Dominican man, identified by his last name Zuluaga Espaillat, was murdered in cold blood after resisting a robbery on the streets of New Jersey.
According to preliminary reports, Zuluaga Espaillat was carrying a cold wallet that allegedly contained more than 15 Bitcoin—a crypto fortune that, at current market value, would exceed one million dollars.
The attackers, who had reportedly been monitoring his movements, burst into the street meeting, demanding access to his digital belongings. The victim apparently refused to hand over the password, and the attackers shot him mercilessly.
Police are investigating the motive for the crime, while the Dominican community in the U.S. mourns the loss of a young entrepreneur, linked to the crypto ecosystem and admired for his financial independence.
This case raises a new alarm: cryptocurrencies, although decentralized and secure online, do not protect against the physical danger of carrying a fortune in your pocket.
Risk isn't just digital. Crime is evolving too.
