"Elon Musk has done a great job. Look, he is sitting here and that is not something I am concerned about. I don't need Elon Musk for any reason other than I personally adore him," said U.S. President Donald Trump during a cabinet meeting at the White House on April 10.

President Trump also recounted that he bought a Tesla car to show his support for billionaire Musk, even though he did not need that car and did not need a discount.

The White House owner bought a red Tesla Model S last month and praised it as "a wonderful product, developed with all of Elon Musk's passion and life."

The U.S. President continues to assert that Elon Musk "has done a great job but has not been treated kindly." The American billionaire was appointed by Trump as a special government employee and is leading the Government Performance Board (DOGE) in its mission to reform and streamline the government apparatus.

Also in the cabinet meeting on April 10, billionaire Musk announced that DOGE would cut nearly $150 billion in spending for the fiscal year 2026, running from April 1 to March 31, 2026. His special government employee position is unpaid and does not work more than 130 days a year.

DOGE is expected to operate until July 4, 2026. However, there are signs that this organization is about to conclude its term, as DOGE staff have been transferred to various federal agencies. Trump stated that after Musk leaves, the ministers will take over the work but "DOGE will still operate."
