In total, the attacker stole 28.5 million MBU tokens and converted them into US$ 2.15 million in USDT.
The Mobius Token (MBU), a project developed on the BNB Chain, was the target of a hacker attack that resulted in the loss of more than US$ 2.15 million in digital assets. The incident occurred on May 11, 2025, and was identified by the blockchain security company Cyvers Alerts. Initially, the attacker exploited a vulnerability in smart contracts to drain millions of tokens from the protocol. Despite the severity, the responsible team has not yet officially commented on the attack.
Hacker used smart contracts to convert Mobius tokens
According to the analysis by Cyvers, the attack began at 07:31 UTC when the hacker deployed a malicious smart contract. In just two minutes, at 07:33, the agent executed the exploit. The action resulted in the withdrawal of approximately 28.5 million MBU tokens, which were quickly converted into USDT. In total, the conversion generated an estimated amount of US$ 2.152.219.99.
