The U.S.-China trade war has experienced a significant de-escalation following a breakthrough agreement between the two nations. On May 12, 2025, U.S. and Chinese officials concluded two days of negotiations in Geneva with a landmark deal to reduce tariffs for a 90-day period. Under the agreement, the U.S. will lower its tariffs on Chinese goods from 145% to 30%, while China will reduce its tariffs on U.S. products from 125% to 10% .
