The clashes between #India and #Pakistan in 2025 intensified following an attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, where 26 tourists were killed. India accused Pakistan of supporting the militant groups responsible, which Islamabad denied.
The situation escalated rapidly with the expulsion of diplomats, the suspension of visas, and the closure of borders. By late April and early May, skirmishes were reported along the Line of Control (LoC). On May 7, India launched missile strikes on Pakistani territory, in an operation called "Sindoor," claiming they were targeting terrorist infrastructure. Pakistan responded with its own strikes and claimed to have shot down Indian fighter jets.
After several days of intense fighting that included air and artillery attacks, both countries agreed to a ceasefire on May 10, although they accused each other of violations shortly afterward. Tensions remain high, and the international community has called for calm and dialogue.
