On May 10, 2025, I executed a breakout trade on BTC/USDT, taking advantage of Bitcoin’s strong push past the $100,000 psychological resistance. BTC had been consolidating between $94,000 and $96,000 for several days, and I was waiting for a clear breakout with volume confirmation.

Strategy Used: I used a classic breakout strategy. My entry signal was a 4-hour candle closing above $100,000 with high volume, indicating strong momentum. Once that happened, I entered a long position at $100,500.

Trade Setup:

Entry: $100,500

Take-Profit: $104,000

Stop-Loss: $98,500

Risk-Reward Ratio: ~1:1.75

Outcome: The trade hit my take-profit within 24 hours as BTC rallied to $104,300. It played out exactly as expected, thanks to clean technical confirmation and strong market sentiment.

What I’d Improve: While the trade was successful, next time I’d consider using a trailing stop-loss to ride the momentum further. I also realized that scaling out of the position in parts could have helped maximize profit while minimizing risk.

This trade reinforced how effective breakout strategies can be when paired with volume analysis. However, it also reminded me that flexible exit management is just as important as the entry.
