• Ethereum is demonstrating significant institutional purchases, reinforcing its role as a store of value.

  • XRP was used in a $50 million pharmaceutical deal for instant payments to suppliers.

  • Solana, Sui, and Supra are competing to be the next leading blockchain platform.

Bitcoin has surpassed the $100k mark and is currently trading around $104k. This rise is also leading to a surge in altcoins; some are now testing key resistance levels that have been held for weeks. Against the backdrop of this bullish market activity, crypto analyst Altcoin Daily shared a list of 14 altcoins that could break out in May 2025. First, three coins from his selection are in the top ten by market capitalization:

1. Ethereum ($ETH )

Ethereum is showing strength again. In the last 24 hours, ETH has surged, and institutions are joining in on greater ETH adoption.

Coinbase added 21,000 ETH to its treasury last quarter, now holding over 140,000 ETH worth around $315 million. Institutions launching layer 2 networks like Kraken, Worldcoin, and Uniswap are also accepting ETH as a treasury asset, further pushing Ethereum into the 'store of value' category.

2. XRP

$XRP is gaining traction, this time in the pharmaceutical sector. Wellgistics Health from Florida is integrating XRP for real-time payments to suppliers as part of a $50 million deal. The speed of XRP (settlement within 3-5 seconds) and improved transparency from U.S. regulators are contributing to the adoption of XRP in business.

3. Cardano ($ADA )

Cardano is paving its own way by integrating with Bitcoin and creating a unique infrastructure.

Its partner project, World Mobile Token, is enhancing connectivity in ecosystems and may soon become a 'partner chain' on Cardano's Midnight platform. Founder Charles Hoskinson has expressed strong support.

  • The BORG token supports the SwissBorg platform, which includes exchanges and crypto tools. Most of its supply is staked or locked, and it is expanding to Hyperliquid, dubbed 'Binance DEX'.

  • COTI started on Cardano and is now operating on Ethereum. It focuses on privacy and real assets and is working with the European Central Bank and governments in Africa and the Middle East.

  • Foxy is a meme coin connected to the Linea network (Ethereum Layer 2). It's still early, but people are talking about it due to its cute branding and growing community.

  • Chainlink (LINK) remains an important project linking real data with blockchains amid the merging of cryptocurrencies and traditional finance.

Blockchains like Solana, Sui, and Supra are rapidly growing. Injective offers tokenized US stocks, Paid Network simplifies crypto crowdfunding, and RSC (ResearchHub), backed by the CEO of Coinbase, uses blockchain for scientific research.
