#Newsdesk NPC - Processing Centre

Morning 🌞Noobies, don't go running to the basement or attic just yet but do I have a doozy for you! News reaching our Desk reports of a PC with a Pentium II processor built in 1997 complete with only 128MB of RAM is all what's need to run modern A.I!..

-Pentium II processor PC cost $118.88 (Pound Sterling)

-128MB of RAM Previously considered as being obsolete

-25yr old Tech No USB ports - PS/2 peripherals only

In the demonstration by EXOLabs a 25yr old technician and his team was able to use the Llama 2 A.I. model on the 25yr old tech, uncanny right? Proving A.I. doesn't need to be confined to high performance Data Centers. The project was not without its hurdles though, as the outdated computer presented no USB ports offering only PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard. The Operating System (OS) itself in any event was too outdated with its FAT32 file format to handle the large data sizes.

The team managed however, to use the FTP protocol (File Transfer Protocol) to transfer the necessary files. There was a further need to connect the PC to a Macbook Pro using a USB-C to ethernet adapter to set-up static IP addresses enabling FTP. A few more hurdles still needed to be cleared before eventually getting everything up and working. The results from the Llama 2 model saw the:

-260K parameter: 39.31 tokens per second

-15M parameter: 1.03 tokens per second

-1B parameter: 0.0093 tokens per second

Whilst these results are as would be imagined; No match for ChatGPT!!! The ability of modern A.I. running on 'Ancient Tech' is surely a ground-breaking accomplishment yet!!!
