Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics Plans to Delete 500,000 Iris Data Collected by World Platform

The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Komdigi) is considering permanently deleting 500,000 iris data collected by the World platform due to concerns about potential data leaks. Currently, the agency is investigating the risks associated with storing iris data, and once security vulnerabilities are confirmed, the relevant data will be immediately deleted.

World is a platform that provides authentication services and has previously sparked controversy by paying users 800,000 Indonesian Rupiah (approximately 48.34 USD) in exchange for iris scans. Since Komdigi revoked its operating license in Indonesia, World has completely ceased its scanning activities in the country. The platform has also clarified that its cryptocurrency Worldcoin is not a mandatory reward but an optional incentive.
