The tower is officially DEAD — New York Magazine published an article about how ChatGPT is killing education in universities and institutes.
The first shot at the corpse of the tower was even before the AI boom — during the COVID times, students were remote and easily solved tests using search engines and special extensions.
But with the emergence of AI, it only got worse: many students don't even check the text and don't remove template phrases like 'as a neural network, I...'. At the same time, it's difficult for teachers to identify generated text, and special 'detectors' are not doing their job.
To be fair, some students use AI for good: they ask clarifying questions on unclear topics or request to complete uninteresting routine homework.
As a result: teachers are increasingly disappointed in their work, and the future generation of specialists only knows how to use ChatGPT and has lost the skill of critical thinking. A wonderful future in which we have to live ☕️
