The debate over whether Solana ($SOL) will dethrone Ethereum ($ETH) as the leading blockchain remains heated. Sygnum, a recognized crypto bank, has dampened the excessive enthusiasm for $SOL. They argue that while Solana impresses with its transaction volume (largely driven by the frenzy of memecoins, as they indicate), traditional financial institutions continue to bet on the security, stability, and proven track record of $ETH for their serious tokenization and decentralized finance (DeFi) projects. This institutional preference is a significant factor for the medium and long term.

However, the push from Solana cannot be ignored. According to recent data (like the ones visualized on Dune Analytics), transactions on $SOL may surpass those on Ethereum, although $ETH maintains a higher total value locked (TVL). For many in our beloved LatAm, where inflation is a recurring ghost (think of Argentina, where the peso has suffered drastic devaluations and people seek to protect their savings, or in Venezuela where the bolívar has practically disappeared against the dollar), the agility and lower transaction costs of $SOL are very attractive. Meanwhile, Ethereum is not resting on its laurels and is reorganizing priorities towards its layer.

The tokenomics of $SOL, where a significant portion of the fees goes to validators and does not necessarily drive the intrinsic value of the $SOL token, is another point that 'looks long' in the debate. Is it time to diversify into $SOL seeking innovation and lower costs, or is it more prudent to maintain confidence in the robustness and developed ecosystem of $ETH, especially when the global economy demands caution?
