What the hell?! JAM was designed to run for 818 years?!
Important information has been dug up in the JAM whitepaper!
JAM uses a time unit structure similar to Ethereum, divided into Epochs and Slots, with each slot being 6 seconds. One epoch contains 600 slots, which is 1 hour. All slots are consecutively numbered starting from the system's genesis moment, and use a 32-bit unsigned integer (maximum value of 2³²).
Since there is one slot every 6 seconds, and a maximum of 2³² slots, we can calculate how long the JAM protocol can run.
🧮 Let's do a simple calculation: 2³² ≈ 4,294,967,296 slots
Each slot is 6 seconds → Total duration is 4,294,967,296 × 6 seconds ≈ 818 years!
So, under the current time settings, the JAM protocol can theoretically run until around the year 2840, meaning that it was initially designed as a "century-level" protocol architecture!
Wow, that's awesome! #JAM
