$BTC Bitcoin recovers $100,000 amid optimism over global trade agreement
At noon, bitcoin was trading at $101,329.97, a gain of 4.7% on the day. The world's largest cryptocurrency has regained ground so far this year, although it remains below the all-time high of over $109,000 reached in January.
Ether, the cryptocurrency of the Ethereum blockchain, rose more than 14% to $2,050.46 after previously reaching its highest level since late March.
Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Thursday an "innovative agreement" on trade that maintains a 10% tariff on British goods imported to the United States, while Britain agreed to reduce its tariffs from 5.1% to 1.8% and provide greater access to American products.
The agreement is the first since Trump triggered a global trade war with a series of tariffs on his trading partners after his return to the White House in January.
