Meta is preparing to issue stablecoins

Meta Platforms is in talks with several cryptocurrency companies to explore the possibility of launching stablecoins that can be used for payment transactions, according to a report published by Fortune magazine on Thursday evening, citing informed sources.

Meta had previously planned to launch a unified digital currency to be used across Facebook, WhatsApp, and its other digital platforms, but Meta had to abandon the project due to the harsh stance of American lawmakers towards cryptocurrencies.

With the return of former President Donald Trump to the White House, the demand for stablecoins has increased in the United States, while the U.S. Congress is discussing two bills to regulate the use of these digital currencies, expected to be approved by 2025.

This move by "Meta" reflects the interest of major technology companies in entering the world of digital currencies and digital payments amid a changing regulatory environment in the United States.
