The founder of the Binance exchange and former convict for serious crimes, Changpeng Zhao, said he requested a pardon from President Donald Trump, shortly after denying several reports that claimed he was seeking one.

Zhao pleaded guilty to a charge of money laundering in November 2023 as part of a deal that Binance reached with U.S. authorities, which involved the payment of a fine of $4.3 billion.
