At the TOKEN2049 Dubai conference, Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump – confirmed that his entire family holds a large amount of Bitcoin, while calling BTC "digital gold" with extraordinary growth potential in the future.
This is the first public statement confirming the Trump family's significant investment in cryptocurrency. Furthermore, Eric also shared that he and his father both view Bitcoin as an important personal investment. Notably, in addition to BTC, he also holds altcoins like Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Sui (SUI).
Shocking statement about Crypto and the ambition to "dominate finance"
According to information from Bloomberg, Eric Trump issued a warning: "Banks will disappear in 10 years if they do not integrate crypto." He also emphasized the role of the World Liberty Financial project – where he is involved – with the ambition to "dominate the financial world."
Earlier, in March 2025, the Trump administration established a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve to retain 200,000 BTC (worth about $17 billion), instead of selling off as before. At the same time, it established the U.S. Digital Asset Reserve to manage other types of crypto.
The appointment of Paul Atkins – who has a friendly view of crypto, as the new SEC Chair further affirms the clear and open direction of the Trump administration towards the digital asset market.
Concerns about conflicts of interest
However, the Trump family's deep involvement in cryptocurrency projects is raising concerns about conflicts of interest. Some senators have proposed the "End Crypto Corruption Act" to prevent profiting from policy. In response, Eric Trump affirmed:
"I do not work for the White House, and my family has believed in crypto for a long time."
Eric Trump's statement could become a new price-driving force for Bitcoin and altcoins. With a high level of acceptance for digital currencies, investors need to closely follow the developments of BTC, ETH, SOL, SUI, and the latest U.S. crypto policies – factors that could strongly influence global market trends.
