Trump again criticizes Powell: 'He's a fool who has no clue'
Once again, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, this time calling the central bank chief a "fool" and stating that he "has no clue."
The comment was posted on the social media platform Truth Social on Thursday (8), a day after the Fed kept interest rates unchanged.
During yesterday's press conference (7), Powell reiterated that he would still wait for more clarity on how the tariffs imposed by the president would affect the economy before deciding on the future direction of monetary policy. However, Trump wants the Fed to cut rates as quickly as possible.
He did not repeat this demand in today's post but reaffirmed that Powell has a history of acting too late on monetary policy.
