Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonymous person (or group) who invented Bitcoin.
First appeared online in 2008 with the Bitcoin whitepaper.
Was active in Bitcoin development until 2010, then mysteriously disappeared.
The Mysterious Birthday:
When Satoshi created their profile on the P2P Foundation forum, they listed their birthday as:
> April 5, 1975.
Why that date might be symbolic:
April 5, 1933: U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 6102, making it illegal for Americans to own gold.
Bitcoin, being "digital gold," could be a rebellion against government control.
1975: In the U.S., private ownership of gold became legal again.
It may symbolize freedom of money — exactly what Bitcoin represents.
Other interesting facts:
The name "Satoshi" roughly means "clear thinking" or "wise" in Japanese.
"Nakamoto" can mean "central origin" or "central person" — very ironic for someone who created decentralization.
Theories about who Satoshi might be:
Hal Finney (early Bitcoin developer)
Nick Szabo (inventor of smart contracts)
Dorian Nakamoto (a man once wrongly claimed to be Satoshi)
A group of cypherpunks rather than a single individual
