A report on-chain from CryptoQuant shows that "new" short-term whales now hold 52.4% of the realized value of Bitcoin whales, surpassing long-term holders for the first time.

Bitcoin is trading near $96,800, partially driven by new capital entering the market at high price levels.

New Bitcoin whales collectively hold more assets than long-term holders.

The realized value assesses each Bitcoin at the price when it last moved on-chain. CryptoQuant analyst J.A. Marton indicates that addresses active in the past 155 days are considered new whales.

At the same time, those inactive addresses are no longer considered old whales.

The average cost of new whales is $91,922, compared to $31,765 for old whales. This shift represents a historical change in capital distribution among major holders.
