#StripeStablecoinAccounts
Stripe, a global payment platform, has introduced stablecoin-based accounts for customers in over 100 countries.
According to the announcement on May 7, the new feature will allow platform customers to "send, receive, and hold balances in US dollar stablecoin accounts, similar to how a traditional fiat bank account works."
The product's technical page states that the new account feature will support
USDC

USDC stablecoins from Circle and USDB (USDB) from Bridge. Stripe acquired the Bridge platform in October 2024.
The product will be available to customers in over 100 countries, including Argentina, Chile, Turkey, Colombia, and Peru, among others.
Stripe's new product comes at a time when stablecoins are increasingly seen as savings vehicles in developing countries struggling with high inflation, capital controls, and a lack of financial infrastructure.
