Some hikers find an iron box and an aluminum can in the mountains, and upon opening it, they contain 600 gold coins from 1808: worth more than 300,000 euros
The contents of the container have been described as a true historical treasure. The iron box contained 16 snuffboxes, 10 bracelets, a mesh purse, a comb, a chain, and a powder compact, all made of gold
An unexpected finding in the mountains of Podkrkonoší, in the Czech Republic, has caught the attention of numerous experts and historians. Earlier this year, two hikers discovered a small aluminum can and an iron box that, at first glance, did not seem to contain anything extraordinary. However, upon opening them, they found a treasure consisting of nearly 600 gold coins, jewelry, and other artifacts, whose antiquity dates back to the early 19th century.

According to the Eastern Bohemia Museum, as reported by the American scientific journal Popular Science, the estimated value of this collection exceeds 340,000 dollars.
A true treasure from the Austro-Hungarian Empire
The contents of the container have been described as a true historical treasure. The iron box contained 16 snuffboxes, 10 bracelets, a mesh purse, a comb, a chain, and a powder compact, all made of gold. For its part, the aluminum can housed 598 gold coins, organized in 11 columns individually wrapped in black cloth. According to the numismatist Vojtěch Brádle, speaking to Popular Science, many of these coins bear dates ranging from 1808 to 1915 and come from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, specifically from the reign of Francis Joseph I.
Brádle explained that the coins did not arrive directly from the Vienna Mint to the Czech region. Instead, they traveled to the Balkans, where, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, they were marked with passwords in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. $HIVE
