🚨 Ethereum$ETH Activates Major 'Pectra' Update – A New Era for the Network 🚨

The Ethereum$ETH network has officially activated the Pectra update, one of its most significant upgrades since the Merge in 2022. Launched at epoch 364032 around 6:05 a.m. ET, this update brings 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) focused on performance, usability, validator efficiency, and scalability.

Despite early configuration issues on testnets like Holesky and Sepolia, the successful rollout of the Hoodi testnet in March 2025 laid the groundwork for a smooth mainnet deployment.

Pectra builds on the Dencun upgrade (March 2024), which introduced proto-danksharding (EIP-4844). Together, they prepare Ethereum$ETH for future updates like Fusaka, which will use Werksley and PeerDAS trees for deeper scalability.

🔑 Key EIPs in Pectra Update:

🔹 EIP-7702 – Account Abstraction

Allows wallets to function like smart contracts.

Enables third-party gas payments and bundled actions.

Paves the way for features like social recovery.

🔹 EIP-7251 – Validator Balance Increase

Raises the max effective balance from 32 ETH to 2048 ETH.

Improves validator efficiency but raises centralization concerns.

🔹 EIP-7691 - Blob Throughput Increase

Doubles the target blob count from 3 to 6 (and max from 6 to 9).

Boosts rollup performance for L2s like Arbitrum and Optimism.

🔹 EIP-7002 – Validator Exit via Execution Layer

Allows validator exits without active keys.

Enhances validator security and simplifies withdrawals.

🔹 EIP-2935 – Persistent Block Hash Storage

Stores recent block hashes in state, not temporary memory.

Improves oracle integration and cross-layer verification.

🔹 EIP-6110 – Faster Validator Activation

Reduces validator activation time from 12 hours to 13 minutes.

Helps large staking providers scale more quickly.
