1. Ignore Price Predictions
No one can consistently predict where the price of $BTC is going—not influencers, not analysts, not YouTubers. Trusting predictions will only mislead your decision-making.
2. Stay Away from Altcoins
Diversification into altcoins is a trap. Most are centralized, unsound, and driven by hype. The vast majority are speculative gambling vehicles. Bitcoin is not about getting rich quick—it’s about escaping the fiat system and reclaiming monetary sovereignty.
3. Bull Markets Feel Euphoric—Until They Don’t
If everyone around you is talking about Bitcoin, you're likely in a late-stage bull market. It’s hard to see clearly during the hype, but in hindsight, the top always looks obvious.
4. Don’t Try to Trade Your Way to More $BTC
Trading altcoins to stack more BTC sounds smart until reality hits. Most people overestimate their skills and underestimate the risks. The outcome is almost always: you get wrecked.
5. DCA, Ignore Emotions, and Stick to the Plan
Dollar-cost averaging into Bitcoin consistently—regardless of price—is the most robust long-term strategy. Don’t try to time the market. Stack sats every paycheck and zoom out.
6. Don’t Oversell $BTC to Others
Your enthusiasm may be genuine, but it can come off as pushy or scammy to those unfamiliar with the space. Let your actions and integrity speak louder than your words.
7. Engage With the Community
Attend Bitcoin meetups and conferences. Isolation leads to burnout. The Bitcoin community is full of thoughtful, principled people—it’s worth getting to know them in real life.
8. Guide Newcomers to btc-Only Platforms
Avoid sending people to exchanges that promote altcoin speculation. Real example: My cousin bought Bitcoin on Coinbase, got tempted, swapped it for Shiba, and lost almost everything. Bitcoin-only companies reduce the risk of beginners making emotional decisions.
9. Be Active on Bitcoin Twitter and Nostr
These platforms are invaluable for staying informed and feeling connected. I joined Bitcoin Twitter in 2020 and wished I had done so earlier. It makes hodling feel a lot less lonely.
10. Be Skeptical of Influencers (Including Me)
Don’t blindly trust anyone. Even well-intentioned influencers can fall victim to poor judgment or hidden incentives. Always do your own research and think critically.
11. Lead Quietly by Example
You don’t need to convert everyone. Just be the go-to person when someone in your circle eventually becomes curious. Be ready with solid resources to guide them when they’re ready—not before.
It’s been an incredible journey so far. Grateful to be part of this community.
