#FOMCMeeting
The FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) is meeting today (May 7, 2025) to decide on U.S. interest rates.
Here's what you need to know in simple terms:
The Fed is likely to keep interest rates the same (between 4.25% and 4.50%).
Why? Inflation is still a concern, and the U.S. economy recently shrank a bit (GDP down 0.3%), so they’re being cautious.
President Trump and investors want a rate cut to boost the economy, but the Fed isn’t ready to do that yet.
Markets now think a rate cut might come in July, not June.
Today at 2 p.m. ET, they’ll announce their decision, and Fed Chair Jerome Powell will speak at 2:30 PM.
