Why doesn't Buffett buy gold?
Buffett once stated at a shareholders' meeting: If you own 1 ounce of gold and you cherish it for the next 100 years, after 100 years you will still have 1 ounce of gold; whereas if you own 100 acres of farmland, after 100 years you will have 100 acres of farmland and 100 years of crops, then sell them, and possibly purchase more farmland in the process... It is hard for a non-productive investment to outperform a productive investment over any long period of time. Munger remarked: I have no interest in gold whatsoever.
