BREAKING NEWS: Tensions Escalate as India-Pakistan Conflict Ignites on Border

May 7, 2025 | Updated 6:45 PM IST

New Delhi/Islamabad: In a dramatic escalation of long-standing tensions, military conflict erupted today between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, sparking international concern and urgent diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.

Early Morning Strike

Reports from both sides confirm that hostilities began at approximately 6:30 AM local time. Indian defense officials claim Pakistani forces initiated the aggression with cross-border shelling in the Kupwara sector, targeting Indian Army positions. In response, the Indian Army launched retaliatory strikes using artillery and drone support.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Armed Forces accused India of launching “an unprovoked and aggressive attack” on civilian areas in the Neelum Valley. Both sides have reported casualties, though exact numbers remain unclear due to ongoing operations and communication disruptions in the region.

Military Mobilization

Eyewitnesses and local media report heavy troop movements and aerial activity on both sides of the border. Fighter jets were seen taking off from air bases in Rajasthan and Punjab, while Pakistan has reportedly mobilized armored units near key strategic zones along the eastern border.

Government Statements

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened an emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, stating, “India will defend its sovereignty and integrity at any cost. We are committed to protecting our citizens and armed forces.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also addressed the nation, saying, “Pakistan will respond to any aggression with full force. We seek peace, but will not tolerate violations of our borders.
