🚨🚨Trade War 2.0: U.S. Nears New Deals as China Stays Silent
On May 6, 2025, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the United States is on the verge of finalizing trade agreements with several key partners. Negotiations are actively underway with 17 of the 18 major trading partners, with China notably absent from current discussions.
Bessent highlighted that many partners have presented favorable proposals, and the administration is optimistic about concluding some deals as early as this week. He emphasized that President Trump will personally oversee and approve all trade negotiations.
The Treasury Secretary also addressed concerns about a potential recession, stating that current economic indicators do not suggest an impending downturn. He anticipates a revision of the first-quarter GDP figures upward and expects tax revenues to remain stable. Bessent noted that advancements in artificial intelligence are poised to enhance the efficiency of the tax system.
Regarding the national debt, Bessent assured that the U.S. will not default and that the debt ceiling will be raised. He dismissed the use of loopholes or tricks to circumvent the debt limit, emphasizing a straightforward approach to fiscal responsibility.
As the U.S. moves forward with these trade negotiations, the absence of China from the table raises questions about future relations between the two economic giants.
