Introducing Hull 096, the largest battery-operated vessel ever created, marking a monumental milestone in the world of sustainable transport. This groundbreaking ship, which was launched by Incat in Tasmania, spans an impressive 130 meters and is powered entirely by clean energy!
Named after the legendary Uruguayan actress, China Zorrilla, this eco-friendly marvel will embark on regular trips across the Río de la Plata, connecting Buenos Aires and Uruguay. It can accommodate:
🚶♂️ 2,100 passengers
🚗 225 vehicles
And the best part? The entire journey is carbon-free, running on zero emissions!
What’s driving this giant?
⚡ Over 250 tonnes of advanced batteries
⚡ A colossal 40+ MWh energy storage capacity
⚡ Eight electric water jets propelling it forward
The trip itself is impressively quick—just 90 minutes across the river!
A Luxurious Experience on the Water
In addition to its eco-friendly capabilities, this ship also boasts an incredible 2,300 sqm duty-free shopping area—making it a true floating city! With charging stations planned on both sides of the river, this vessel is a huge leap forward for green transportation.
The final battery tests will take place later this year on the River Derwent in Tasmania, bringing this incredible project one step closer to reshaping the future of travel.
