🏛️ U.S. House Unveils Crypto Market Structure Draft Bill 

On May 5, 2025, leaders from the House Financial Services and Agriculture Committees released a discussion draft of a new crypto market structure bill. This legislation aims to establish a clear regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States.  

Key Highlights:

•Jurisdiction Clarity: The bill delineates responsibilities between the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), potentially shifting oversight of certain digital assets to the CFTC. 

•Decentralisation Criteria: It introduces tests to determine the decentralization level of digital assets, influencing their regulatory treatment. 

•Retail Investor Protections: The draft emphasizes safeguarding retail investors while promoting innovation in the digital asset space. 

A joint hearing to discuss the bill is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025. However, some opposition has emerged, with leading Democrats expressing concerns over the proposed regulatory shifts.
