FOMC — is the key body of the Federal Reserve System that determines the monetary policy of the United States, in particular:

• sets the target federal funds rate,

• influences the levels of inflation, employment, and economic growth,

• makes decisions regarding the purchase or sale of government bonds, i.e., conducts open market operations.
