#FOMCMeeting

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is the monetary policymaking body of the Federal Reserve System, the central bank of the United States. Comprising the Board of Governors, the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and four rotating Reserve Bank presidents, the FOMC holds eight regularly scheduled meetings per year. Additional meetings can be convened if economic conditions warrant.

During these crucial gatherings, members meticulously review current and projected economic and financial conditions. Their primary objective is to determine the appropriate stance of monetary policy, which includes setting a target for the federal funds rate—the interest rate at which commercial banks lend to each other overnight. These decisions significantly influence overall credit conditions, employment, and price stability in the U.S. economy. Notably, an FOMC meeting is scheduled for today and tomorrow, May 6-7, 2025.
