When a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025, tremors rippled far beyond the epicenter. In Thailand, buildings swayed, streets were filled with people seeking safety, and uncertainty took hold. For many of our colleagues, an ordinary Friday suddenly turned into something far more urgent. What followed was an extraordinary showcase of coordinated effort on behalf of several Binance teams whose members were scattered across the world. Within hours, our HR, security, finance, and administrative experts came together to check on our people, organize emergency support, and ensure everyone was safe and accounted for.

Responding in Real Time
As news of the earthquake spread, it became clear that a substantial number of Binance employees in Thailand needed immediate support: from relocations to guidance to temporary accommodation.
Teams acted fast to reach out, understand each person’s situation, and provide the appropriate form of support. Internal chats, phone calls, emergency contacts, and nearby colleagues were all mobilized.
“The first few minutes were a blur,” recalled SB, one of our HR business partners. “You don’t think through steps, you just act. People needed help, and we had to be there.”
Working Together, Without Boundaries
This effort stretched across regions. Teams in Vietnam, Singapore, and beyond stayed closely aligned through constant communication and shared updates.
As needs shifted, roles became fluid. HR supported logistics, Admin followed up on status updates, Security offered both practical and emotional support, and Finance worked to ensure no one faced delays.
“It didn’t matter what time it was or where we were,” said GG from Admin. “If someone needed something, we made it happen. We didn’t wait, we just got to work.”
Trust was at the heart of the joint task force. Teams didn’t wait for instructions, they filled gaps and moved forward intuitively, as if passing a baton to each other in a critical marathon.
“We trust each other to know what needs to be done,” added CW from the Security team. “That’s what keeps things moving when it really counts.”
Going Above and Beyond to Support Each Other
In moments like these, what stood out were not just the tasks completed, but the ways people stepped up to support each other.
MK from our local Admin team, helped secure safe accommodations for colleagues, even as she dealt with damage to her own apartment. “She didn’t have to do that,” GG shared. “But she did. She didn’t stop until every room was booked, every person had a place.”
Han, from Tech, coordinated check-ins for colleagues staying near him in Thailand. He kept in constant contact with HR, shared updates from those around him, and supported teammates from other departments. He didn’t rest until everyone was accounted for.
“He was the last to check in,” SB recalled. “Not because he wasn’t reachable, but because he was making sure everyone else was.”
Throughout the weekend, the Admin team stayed online, managing bookings, following up on requests, and ensuring no one was left without support.
The Delivery of a Binance Miracle
One situation highlighted how important it was to go beyond logistics. A particularly touching story of a heavily pregnant Binance employee and her husband during the earthquake became a testament to Binance’s steadfast commitment in protecting the well-being of our people.
HR and Admin went above and beyond to make sure that the couple relocated to a safe hotel near a hospital where the baby could be born. SB and the husband’s HRBP, ZY, worked together to ensure that the couple’s practical needs and personal concerns were handled. A few days later, the pregnant Binancian gave birth safely.
“It wasn’t just about finding a safe place,” SB said. “We wanted to make sure she felt supported throughout, especially with everything else that was going on.”Read the full story here.
Learning and Looking Ahead
Every challenge brings lessons, and this experience reinforced the importance of being prepared, staying adaptable, and responding with clarity in uncertain moments. More importantly, it showed how much can be achieved when Binancians come together with a shared focus and a genuine commitment to support one another.
The earthquake in Thailand was a powerful reminder of how quickly circumstances can change, and how essential it is to act with both urgency and care. Across regions, our teams worked through uncertainty, stepping up, taking ownership, and finding ways to move forward together.
As Binance continues to grow in a fast-moving world, we carry these experiences with us, knowing that the strength of our people is reflected in how they respond, not just in times of crisis, but in everyday moments that define who we are.
