The efforts of computer engineer James Howells to rediscover a hard drive containing 8,000 Bitcoin (BTC) worth US$776 million or equivalent to Rp12.7 trillion that was thrown into a landfill will be featured in a documentary series.
The series titled "The Buried Bitcoin: The Real-Life Treasure Hunt of James Howells" is being produced by Lebul, a Los Angeles-based entertainment company that has secured exclusive rights to adapt it.
The series will present the challenges faced by the man from Wales, who has been struggling against bureaucracy and environmental obstacles since 2013.
Interestingly, although the High Court of England rejected Howells' lawsuit last January, he has not given up and is even considering buying the landfill site.
"This is not just ordinary entertainment," said President of Unscripted Entertainment Lebul Reese Van Allen.
Because, Allen believes this project is a gripping true story about technology and wealth, with nearly Rp13 trillion at stake.
