The Japanese blockchain game (Kantai Senki) has been online for 3 days. I've been playing this game whenever I have free time. This short article shares my testing experience from five aspects: game background, how to play, how to win, how to earn, and future outlook.
In summary:
1. (Kantai Senki) is a governance token that provides an NFT trading market for players to trade cards in a Web2 game.
2. The main purpose of the project party in releasing this game is to provide entertainment experiences for Web2 and Web3 players. To ensure an enjoyable experience, they will strive to maintain the extreme stability of asset prices, suitable for pure gaming players.
3. For Web3 speculative users, it may be better to abandon playing the game, focus on project progress, and participate in the secondary speculation after the $SGC token launch.
One, game background
In summary: The project party behind this game has a solid foundation in both Web2 game content development and Web3 technology/operations, not being a novice Web2 entity entering the Web3 industry for the first time, and is worth paying attention to.
1. A blockchain game based on a major IP: The popularity of the Japanese Sega's (Kantai Senki) game IP needs no further explanation, and transforming this IP into a blockchain game has great appeal for mass adoption of Web2 players.
2. The game publisher doublejump has several blockchain games and NFTs, and has developed a wallet called Oasys Passport on the Japanese gaming public chain Oasys, showing strong capabilities in both Web2 game content development and Web3 technology and operations.
Two, how to play the game?
In summary: The game quality is very high, and the gameplay is rich.
1. A card-based auto-battler gameplay, which does not require frequent mouse and keyboard control from players.
2. General cards are divided into the Wei, Shu, and Wu factions, with three types of units: cavalry, archers, and spearmen, with a cycle of cavalry > archers > spearmen > cavalry, creating a rock-paper-scissors effect.
3. Each general character has military power, intelligence, skills, and strategy parameters. For example, the Guan Yu general card has a military power of 9 and intelligence of 7, with skills being 'Great Army's Spear' and 'March', and the strategy is 'Loyalty's Great Command'.
4. Strategies are the inherent abilities possessed by generals. When the 'activation conditions' and 'timing' are met, the strategy will activate automatically. For example, the strategy 'Loyalty's Great Command' of the Guan Yu general card requires a team with more than three Shu generals to activate. Additionally, there is an 'effect range' that can provide various beneficial effects for oneself or allied generals, or impose adverse effects and damage on enemies.
5. Before the game starts, players need to run around the map to select cities, randomly collecting a general card from 5 to 7 cities occupied by different countries.
6. Each general card has a fixed cost; for example, Guan Yu costs 3, Cao Cao costs 2.5, and Wu Guo Tai costs 1. The card combinations for each battle need to be assembled according to the cost limit.
7. Players compete against each other in card battles, with each match consisting of three rounds. The winner can earn military power and proof value points, while the loser loses points.
Three, how to win battles in the game?
In summary: If players want to win battles, it takes both time and effort. This is beneficial for players who have played the Web2 version (Kantai Senki), but Web3 native speculative players might as well not play, as those who are unwilling to invest time and effort will not be able to succeed.
1. Players need to memorize cards, become familiar with each general's unit skills and strategies, and develop their own card arrangement strategies to counter opponents. Below are some strategy examples.
2. If the enemy's deck contains many cavalry units, predict the attack route and deploy spearmen to counter.
3. To deal with ambushes, send out generals with high intelligence first.
4. Retreat after issuing advance orders and concentrate attacks on the advancing enemy front.
5. To distract the enemy's attention to the center, send siege troops to attack from the flanks.
6. Players need to explore various attack and defense strategies by finding different card combinations.
7. Sister Cathy played 20 matches in the past 3 days, winning 12 and losing 8, currently ranked 9750 for the quarter.
Four, how to earn?
In summary: Both possible money-making methods require significant time and investment; players may invest time and money without necessarily earning a profit.
Money-making method 1: Sell NFT cards to other players.
1) There are two types of cards in the game: normal cards and awakened cards, where awakened cards are NFTs that can be bought and sold in the market. Burning multiple awakened cards of the same general can upgrade this NFT to the maximum level of 15.
2) In the official store of the game, players must spend money to buy card packs to obtain awakened card NFTs (except for one 'Da Qiao' awakened card airdropped to each test player).
3) Players can participate in battles without spending money, using only normal cards, and still have a chance to win PVP victories and earn military power and proof value points. After winning, players have the opportunity to receive more normal cards for free. However, climbing the leaderboard with normal cards is very challenging and requires a high level of skill in the game.
4) The awakened cards NFT obtained through spending have special awakening skills that significantly assist players in climbing the leaderboard.
Currently, I feel it is quite difficult for gold farming players to profit by selling general card NFTs, as the official store allows for each awakened general card to be sold 1 million times (this is the data obtained from Discord; the game Litepaper does not mention this figure, so it is estimated that the project party has not finalized the number). New players can simply buy card packs from the official store to draw awakened cards and upgrade their NFTs, without needing to purchase already upgraded level 15 awakened cards from other players in the NFT market. Additionally, buying card packs from the official store adds the excitement of blind box draws. For gold farming players to sell NFTs, they need to control prices, and if there are not many new players, the selling price of NFTs will only continue to decline.
Money-making method 2: Compete in the monthly leaderboard to win game tokens, and participate in sporadic competitions to earn yen rewards; rewards for various leaderboards are minimal.
Two events were announced in the April 30 game announcement:
Event 1: Details of the monthly leaderboard rewards for May are as follows:
https://info.kai-sangokushi-taisen.games/zh-Hant/post/ranking_season0
Players ranked within the top 2000 on the monthly leaderboard can receive 3000 SGCP tokens as a reward, with the first place receiving 1 million tokens.
Event 2 announced on April 30: The Top Battle Tournament sponsored by Rakuten Wallet, Inc.
First place: 100,000 yen + title
Second place: 50,000 yen + title
Third place: 30,000 yen + title
Fourth place: 20,000 yen
Fifth to eighth place: 10,000 yen
Qualification match date: April 30 - May 31
Qualification conditions: The top 8 players during the aforementioned period will qualify for the competition.
If a player withdraws from the competition, their qualification will be passed to the next ranking.
Main match date and time: June 21, 17:00-21:00 (UTC+8)
Main match location: Online live stream
Main match participants: 8 people (tentative)
*Detailed information will be announced later.
--This means that only 8 top players can earn yen rewards from this sporadic event; others, regardless of spending money or the hours they played, will only be participating. Thus, Web3 gold farming players can disperse.
Five, future outlook:
The game’s token #SGC has a fixed supply, and has not yet entered the game economic cycle, meaning there are currently no scenarios for producing or consuming tokens within the game. The #SGC can be seen as a governance token for the project.
The measures to maintain the value and appreciation potential of the tokens, as seen from the Litepaper, include: the project party will use part of the sales revenue from card packs and Marketplace transaction fees to repurchase $SGC.
Subsequent players can use the #SGC tokens earned from the leaderboard to stake and obtain staking points, which can be used to participate in guild wars and other peak events, as well as to purchase UGC content.
I have been playing this blockchain game for a relatively short time. If there are any inaccuracies in description or judgment, other players are welcome to supplement and correct.
Players are invited to comment: After trying it out, are you interested in this blockchain game?
