Ukraine attacks Moscow just before the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany

In the early hours of May 5, Ukraine unexpectedly launched a large-scale drone attack on the capital Moscow – just a few days before the May 9 parade, a significant event marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany.

According to the Mayor of Moscow, Russian air defense shot down at least 4 drones. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a total of 26 drones were destroyed, mostly in Bryansk and Kaluga.

The incident forced Domodedovo Airport to temporarily close, raising serious security concerns just before the parade attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In response to the incident, Russia accused Ukraine of terrorism and warned of a “harsh retaliation” if the attacks continue. The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, threatened: “If Ukraine dares to strike Moscow on May 9, Kiev may not survive until May 10.”
