EU Enforces Stricter Crypto Oversight with New AML Regulation
The European Union has officially rolled out its Anti Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) marking a significant shift in how crypto assets will be monitored and controlled.
Under the new framework
Anonymous crypto wallets will be banned
Privacy coins such as Monero ( XMR ) Zcash (ZEC) and Dash (DASH) will no longer be permitted
Starting 2027, all crypto transactions over €1,000 will require mandatory identity verification
A new EU AML Authority will be established to regulate major platforms and ensure compliance
These bold steps are aimed at combating illicit finance and increasing consumer protection but they also raise concerns over personal financial privacy and digital autonomy.
What do you think? Should governments have the power to eliminate financial privacy or is this a necessary evolution to secure the crypto space?
