The EU will start banning crypto businesses from interacting with privacy-focused cryptocurrencies from 2027 as part of a new AMLR framework, according to the AML Guidebook released by the European Crypto Initiative (EUCI).
The ban will also impact holders of anonymous accounts and self-storage addresses operating at credit institutions, financial institutions, and cryptocurrency service providers - including crypto exchanges - from July 2027.
"Anonymous crypto asset accounts and other anonymous instruments impede transaction traceability, making it difficult to detect suspicious activity and implement effective customer due diligence measures," EUCI said in the Guidebook.
