#EUPrivacyCoinBan The European Union (EU) is preparing to develop a comprehensive anti-money laundering regulation (AMLR), including a complete ban on privacy tokens (also known as private currencies) such as Monero (XMR), Zcash (ZEC) as anonymous cryptocurrency accounts starting in 2027. According to Article 79 of the AMLR published by the European Crypto Initiative (EUCI), banks, financial institutions, and crypto asset service providers (CASPs) will not be allowed to maintain anonymous accounts or process transactions related to tokens with anonymity features.
