🔒 Europe says goodbye to privacy coins: is this the end of anonymity in crypto?
The European Union has announced that, starting July 1, 2027, privacy coins like Monero (XMR), Zcash (ZEC), and Dash, as well as anonymous crypto accounts, will be banned under its new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR).
What does this measure imply?
Total ban on tokens that allow anonymous transactions.
Obligation for identity verification (KYC) for crypto transactions over 1,000 euros.
Creation of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA), which will directly supervise the largest crypto service providers in the EU.
Why this decision?
Authorities argue that these coins make it difficult to trace illicit activities such as money laundering and terrorism financing. However, critics warn that this measure could negatively impact the financial privacy of legitimate users and hinder innovation in the crypto space.
What do you think?
Is this a necessary measure for financial security or an excess that compromises individual privacy?
