The European Union has officially passed the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) to strengthen regulation of cryptocurrencies. The new rules will prohibit anonymous crypto wallets and privacy coins, such as Monero, Zcash, and Dash. Starting from 2027, all crypto transactions over 1000 euros will require verification, and a new anti-money laundering agency will oversee large platforms.
