Who among us is not looking for the best way to transfer their currencies without paying fees that break the bank? 😅 The good news is that there are blockchain networks known for having much lower fees than other networks (I’m looking at the main Ethereum ERC20 network during busy times 👀).

Understanding these networks can save you a good amount in the long run.

Who are the champions of low fees in 2025?

There are many networks competing to be the fastest and cheapest. Some of the most famous ones that usually offer low fees include:

* BNB Chain network (BEP20): fast and has very low fees for most currencies.

* Polygon network: its fees are measured in very small cents and often significantly less than a dollar even for complex operations.

* Solana network: known for its ultra-speed and very low fees, parts of a cent.

* Avalanche C-Chain network: fast and its fees are competitive.

* Layer 2 networks on Ethereum: like Arbitrum, Optimism, zkSync, and others. After the Dencun update (March 2024), transaction fees on them have significantly decreased and they have become one of the cheapest options to interact with Ethereum applications.

What are the great benefits of these networks?

* Huge savings on fees: this is the main point! Transferring currencies or interacting with applications on them costs a very small fraction compared to expensive networks.

* Transaction speed: many of these networks are designed to be very fast, meaning your transactions are completed and confirmed in a short amount of time.

* Greater accessibility for use: low fees encourage people to make small transactions or interact with many applications without worrying about the cost.

So, what is the challenge? "Limited support problem" and the downsides? 🤔

This is the point where many might go wrong or be surprised. Although these networks are excellent for saving, not all platforms, wallets, and services support all these networks for all currencies.

This creates a problem we call here the "limited support challenge" or "non-multiplier dispersion with the same strength."

Potential downsides due to this incomplete support:

* Difficulty transferring currencies between platforms/wallets: You might find a certain currency on the Polygon network, for example, and when you try to withdraw it to another platform, you find that this platform only supports receiving this currency on the expensive Ethereum (ERC20) network. At that time, you will have to pay the high fee or convert this currency to another currency supported on a cheaper network (this can also cost you time and fees).

* Liquidity fragmentation: a single currency may exist on several networks, which makes its liquidity divided instead of concentrated in one easily accessible place.

* The need to use "bridges": If you want to transfer a currency from one completely different network to another (for example, from BNB Chain to Polygon), you will likely need to use a "bridge" between the two networks. These bridges can be a bit complex, have their own fees, and more importantly, they are sometimes a target for hackers and carry a degree of risk.

How to deal with this challenge intelligently?

The secret is simple and takes us back to the post we made before: Always, always, always... before you send any currency from one place to another, "make sure the receiving party supports the same network you will send from."

If the platform or the other wallet does not support the same cheap network that you have your currency on, know that you are faced with two options: either pay the higher fees of the supported network, or look for other solutions (like converting to another currency supported on a cheaper network on both ends, or using a bridge if available and reliable).

Cheap networks are a real treasure for saving money and speed, but you need to be aware that the flexibility of transfer might be less if the party you are dealing with does not support the same network. A little research and confirmation before transferring can save you a lot of money and problems!$OP
