On May 2, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce confirmed that the US had proactively reached out and Beijing "is evaluating" Washington's proposal for tariff negotiations.
However, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that any negotiations would first require sincerity from the US.
"If the US wants to negotiate, they should demonstrate their sincerity, be prepared to rectify their wrongdoings, and cancel unilateral tariffs," the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said.
