Binance Founder CZ Highlights Nations' Move Towards Bitcoin Reserves
Changpeng Zhao (CZ), founder of Binance, has emphasized the growing trend of countries adopting Bitcoin as part of their strategic reserves. In a recent post, CZ stated:
> "There will be a race for nations to print money to buy bitcoin, i.e., the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve. No one can afford to be last!"
This perspective aligns with recent developments, such as the United States establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve through an executive order in March 2025. The reserve, formed from seized assets, positions the U.S. as a major holder with approximately 198,000 BTC.
CZ also highlighted Bhutan's initiative to include Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Coin (BNB) in its strategic reserves, praising the country's forward-thinking approach.
Looking ahead, CZ predicts that smaller nations will lead the adoption of Bitcoin reserves, with larger countries like China potentially following suit. He remarked:
> "I’d be shocked if [the Chinese government] announced something and then do it — I’d be much less surprised if they accumulate and then announce [...] They have to do it at some point because it’s the only ‘hard’ asset."
As the global financial landscape evolves, the adoption of Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset underscores its growing significance and the shifting dynamics of national economic strategies.
