Ban on Using USDT and USDC in Poland (Possibly Coming Soon for Other EEA Users). What Does It Mean for Binance Traders?

Binance has announced important changes for users in Poland. Starting from May 16, 2025, it will no longer be possible to use USDT and USDC in futures contracts, margin trading, loans, or Dual Investment products.

Official Announcement from Binance:

"Dear Binance User,

As part of our ongoing efforts to comply with local regulatory requirements, we are making changes to the availability of certain products in Poland.

Futures, Dual Investment, Stablecoin Loans, and Margin products involving stablecoins will be restricted in your region as of May 16, 2025.

If you are not currently using these products, you simply won’t be able to open new positions based on stablecoins."

What’s Changing for Polish Users?

Beginning May 16, Binance users in Poland will face the following limitations:

Opening new USDⓈ-Margined Futures positions settled in USDT/USDC will be disabled.

Access to new Dual Investment opportunities involving stablecoins will be removed.

Loans backed by USDT/USDC or using them as collateral will be restricted.

Margin trading using USDT or USDC will no longer be available.

Coin-Margined products (e.g., BTC-Margined Futures) will still be offered.

Impact on Traders:

Shift in Collateral Strategy – Users must pivot to crypto-based collateral like BTC or ETH.

Fewer Tradable Instruments – Stablecoin-linked financial products will no longer be available.

Increased Market Exposure – Without stablecoins, traders may experience more price volatility and higher risk of liquidation.

Will Binance Close Existing Positions?

No. Open positions using USDT/USDC will remain untouched. However, after May 16, users won’t be able to initiate any new ones involving these stablecoins.

Reason Behind the Change:

This move appears to be in response to upcoming EU regulations, particularly the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. MiCA sets out rules for the issuance and usage of stablecoins, and
