The encryption industry benefited on Thursday from the antitrust case filed by Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, against Apple, as the iPhone maker eased restrictions on developers' ability to submit apps in the United States that direct users to non-standard purchasing methods or digital collectibles.

Apple updated its iOS App Store review guidelines after a U.S. district judge found this week that the tech giant had "willfully" violated a court order issued in 2021. Going forward, the federal court barred Apple from charging fees on purchases made outside its iOS apps (currently 27%) or limiting developers' ability to direct users to third-party websites.
