Recently, Michael Ellis, the CIA director appointed by President Trump, stated that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are tools that the United States can use to fight its adversaries, especially China. These comments came during an interview on Anthony Pompliano's podcast.
The Trump administration has taken a more supportive approach to cryptocurrencies since the president took office on January 20. Consequently, it has dropped legal actions against many companies in the sector and even started creating a strategic reserve of Bitcoin.
Trump has also promised to make the United States "the cryptocurrency capital of the world." However, skeptics remain cautious about the use of cryptocurrencies by criminals and other malicious actors to evade detection by law enforcement authorities.
Michael Ellis's comments underscore the growing importance of cryptocurrencies in the U.S. strategy to confront China and other adversaries.
