China has shown signs of being willing to engage in dialogue with the United States regarding the tariff war that has strained trade relations between the two financial powers.
A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce confirmed that the country is considering the possibility of entering negotiations with the United States. According to the official, high-ranking U.S. officials have repeatedly expressed their interest in discussing tariffs, sending proactive signals to Beijing through various channels.
However, China maintains a clear stance: it is willing to talk but demands sincerity from Washington.
The spokesperson emphasized that —in their opinion— the trade war and tariffs were initiated unilaterally by the United States. For negotiations to progress, China expects the U.S. government to correct its tariff measures.
