Rumors say Ripple raises its acquisition offer for Circle to $20 billion
It is rumored that Ripple has increased its acquisition offer for USDC issuer Circle to $20 billion, which is four times the initial offer. Although it has not yet received official confirmation, rumors of the deal have been widely circulated on social media.
This move by Ripple is seen as an attempt to gain a larger share of the stablecoin market, as its own issued RLUSD has a market value of only $317 million, far below USDC's $61.7 billion.
Circle is currently preparing for an IPO in the United States, while Ripple recently reached a settlement with the SEC, ending a lawsuit that began in 2020. If the acquisition is successful, it would mark a significant shift in Ripple's role in the global stablecoin ecosystem.
Currently, neither company has commented on the $20 billion rumor.
